You will be responsible for maintaining inventory, assisting with stocktakes, and ensuring the store environment is clean, safe, and well-organized. Task & responsibilities

Receiving and Inspecting Goods

• Receive all incoming stock deliveries from suppliers, verifying that the goods match purchase orders and delivery dockets.
• Carefully check for any damages, spoilage (especially in perishable items like fresh produce, dairy, and frozen goods), or discrepancies between the goods received and the accompanying invoices.
• Communicate promptly with suppliers or the store manager regarding any damaged, incorrect, or missing items to ensure quick resolution.

Unloading and Unpacking

• Safely unload goods from delivery vehicles, using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment.
• Open packages, remove contents, and dispose of packaging materials responsibly, following the store’s recycling and waste management policies.

Stock Recording and Inventory Management

• Operate the store’s inventory management system to record stock received, update stock levels, and track product locations.
• Regularly monitor stock movement to ensure products are rotated (FIFO – First In, First Out) and are not approaching expiry dates.
• Assist with conducting routine stocktakes, ensuring accuracy of inventory records for all product categories.

Labelling and Stock Presentation

• Label goods with pricing, barcodes, or storage location details to ensure accurate scanning at checkout.
• Place goods neatly on shelves, maintaining clean and well-organised displays that align with FoodWorks merchandising standards.
• Ensure promotional stock or sale items are clearly marked and well presented.

Packing and Preparing Goods for Distribution

• Weigh, pack, and seal goods (e.g., deli or bulk food items) as required for customer orders or for distribution to other locations.
• Ensure that goods are packaged hygienically and securely, following FoodWorks food safety and quality guidelines.

Operating Machinery and Equipment

• Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or hydraulic lifters to move goods between storage areas and the sales floor.
• Use electronic order-picking equipment for larger stock items, ensuring accuracy in fulfilling orders.

Customer and Supplier Liaison

• Customer service, following daily tasks, reporting the duty manager/ store manager
• Process customer orders promptly by selecting, packing, weighing, and sealing products for collection or delivery.
• Assist in preparing and issuing invoices for bulk or wholesale customers as required.
• Liaise with suppliers for reordering stock, ensuring consistent availability of high-demand products.

Stock Rotation and Quality Control

• Perform regular checks on perishable items to ensure freshness, removing any out-of-date or damaged products.
• Implement correct storage practices, such as maintaining appropriate temperature zones for frozen and refrigerated goods.

Workplace Safety and Compliance

• Follow all FoodWorks safety and hygiene protocols, including safe manual handling and food safety standards.
• Report any hazards, equipment faults, or safety concerns to the store manager promptly.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations, including health and safety requirements.

Qualification & experience

🎓 Qualifications

Minimum Education: Certificate III in retail or higher

🛠️ Experience

Retail or Warehouse Background: At least one to two years of experience in inventory management, stock control, or logistics is beneficial.

Manual Handling: Ability to safely lift and move stock is essential.

Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer applications is useful.
