As a Project Management Consultant, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring project schedules, performing forensic delay analysis, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will play a key role in preparing detailed programmes, advising clients, and supporting claims and dispute resolution processes.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct construction drawing quantity take-offs to estimate task durations based on labour, materials, and equipment availability.
  • Assist with the development and assessment of Tender Programmes to support preferred contractor selection.
  • Prepare and maintain various project schedules including Tender, Contract, Updated, and As-Built Programmes using tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or ASTA Powerproject.
  • Validate resource requirements and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Analyse schedules to identify risks, opportunities, and resourcing challenges; advise stakeholders accordingly.
  • Conduct site walks and engage with project teams to monitor progress, risks, and constraints.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports detailing critical path analysis, contractor progress, and project risks.
  • Review project documents to assess programme claims and Extension of Time (EOT) requests.
  • Analyse time and cost-related claims; prepare detailed findings and recommendations.
  • Perform Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and delay assessments.
  • Support development of expert determination and claims reports for court or arbitration proceedings.
  • Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, legal teams, and project managers to collect and analyse data.
  • Maintain quality project documentation including schedules, correspondence, and change orders.
  • Monitor milestones and proactively alert clients to potential delays or impacts.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate qualification equivalent to Consult Australia Engineer Level 1 or 2.
  • White Card/Blue Card (Construction Induction Accreditation).
  • Understanding of project management methodologies such as PMBOK or PRINCE2.
  • Experience with construction programming and scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, ASTA Powerproject).
  • Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM), Time Impact Analysis, and delay assessment techniques.
  • Familiarity with building construction methodologies and industry contracts.
  • Experience preparing construction programmes and delay analysis reports.
  • Ability to interpret cost plans, cash flow, and resource requirements.
  • Understanding of project delivery methods, procurement strategies, and scope/change management.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Exposure to TBH methodologies (Timecash, Master Planning, Design/Procurement Planning).
  • Experience working across different phases of project lifecycle (planning, execution, monitoring, closure).
  • Knowledge of dispute resolution, claims management, and forensic scheduling.
  • Intermediate or above proficiency in project scheduling software and MS Office suite.
