We are looking for a dedicated and skilled professional who can consistently produce high-quality pizzas and contribute to the smooth operation of our dynamic, well-organised kitchen.

Task & responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan pizza menu items, estimate food costs, and order ingredients specific to pizza preparation
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of pizzas, ensuring consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation
- Monitor the quality of dough, sauces, toppings, and finished pizzas throughout all stages of preparation
- Manage the wood-fired or conventional pizza oven, regulating temperatures and ensuring optimal cooking results
- Discuss pizza preparation and service coordination with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient operations
- Store ingredients and prepared doughs in temperature-controlled environments, adhering to food safety regulations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the pizza prep and oven areas, ensuring proper storage of tools and equipment
- Assist in ordering and stock rotation of pizza-related supplies in consultation with the Head Chef
- Follow the restaurant’s cleaning roster and responsible waste disposal practices specific to the pizza section
- Ensure all equipment, especially pizza ovens, are maintained, cleaned, and operated safely
- Adhere strictly to Food Safety and Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) standards as outlined by Australian regulations
- Document any WH&S incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Conduct daily stock checks and replenish ingredients (cheese, dough, sauces, etc.) as needed
- Perform any additional tasks as reasonably directed by the Head Chef or Managing Director
Qualification & experience
- Minimum one year of work experience as a Pizza Chef or in a similar role
- Formal culinary training or proven equivalent experience in a commercial kitchen
- Certification IV in Kitchen Management or related discipline
- Expertise in pizza preparation, including dough making, proofing, and oven handling (wood-fired experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and preparation techniques
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to team-based work
- Passion for Italian cuisine and commitment to delivering high-quality, consistent dishes
