As a Networks & Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning, developing, deploying, testing, and optimising network and system services, taking responsibility for configuration management and overall operational readiness of network systems, especially in environments with multiple operating systems and configurations.

Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring and maintaining installed networks and services, providing escalated support, performing network system installations, and providing after-hours escalation support, as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and maintain network and system infrastructure in our client environments, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. 
  • Traveling for projects located both locally and nationally.
  • Provide escalation support for network infrastructure and associated services, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems in a timely manner.
  • Train and mentor level 1 technicians to minimise escalations and improve first call resolution KPIs.
  • Act as technician on remote/onsite installations, working closely with third party vendors and clients to ensure successful deployments.
  • Proactively analyse system performance to identify opportunities for enhancement, develop short- and long-term strategic plans for upgrades, and implement improvements to optimize reliability and efficiency
  • Ensure the seamless integration and interoperability of network equipment and systems from various vendors and service providers
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies via vendor certifications, our test lab, and competitor solutions. 
  • Recommending opportunities to enhance network performance and capabilities and improve overall department efficiency.
  • Document network and system configurations, procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer and facilitate future troubleshooting efforts.
  • Provide after-hours escalation support as part of an on-call rotation schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree
  • Network Engineering and Industry standard vendor certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNP or equivalent.
  • ITIL certifications or equivalent

Required Technical Background and Skills:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong interest in technology with a desire to continuously learn and expand knowledge.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, and remote monitoring and management (RMM)
  • Experience working in Hotel or accommodation IT environments or similar
  • Ability to communicate with corporate management whilst deploying IT solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Capable in configuring and deploying Network equipment and Servers
  • Strong understanding of wireless network implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of Network protocols, OSI layer and telecommunication fundamentals
  • Knowledge and/or experience of network security fundamentals.
  • Scripting and/or programming knowledge is highly regarded.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
