At the Department of Finance, Australian Government we are connected to the whole Australian economy, and the government’s policy agenda.  Finance manages the budget, but also drives reforms and outcomes that shape the Australian government, business and social landscape and have built strong commercial and advisory connections to industry.

The Corporate Engagement section, within the Communications Branch, is a multi-skilled team, which works closely together in internal and external communication, media and web. Graphic designers within this team develop graphics for publications, the internet, intranet, corporate events, external conferences and more.
  
THE ROLE
We are looking for a Graphic Designer with excellent technical and communication skills, to take client briefs and provide design solutions through to finished artwork for digital or print publication, such as publications, infographics, pull-up banners and social media graphics. You will work closely with other Graphic Designers in delivering user-centred and creative solutions. You will directly report to the EL1 Design and Communications Manager.
  
CRITERIA
If you currently hold a valid security clearance: Baseline, NV1 or NV2 this will be highly regarded, but is not mandatory.
Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualifications in graphic design or a related area.
  • Good experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Good experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in creating WCAG 2.2 accessible documents, building accessibility into Indesign documents and producing accessible pdfs.
  • Experience typesetting long form documents and creating artwork for printed publications.
  • Experience applying branding guidelines.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship-management skills including the ability to confidently present design solutions and explain your design rationale to clients, and negotiate solutions with stakeholders.
  • An ability to critically analyse and evaluate design briefs and requests in order to deliver creative and effective products and outcomes.
  • An ability to manage work practices and workflows, set priorities and work under limited supervision to meet tight deadlines.
