Position: Engineering Technologist, Focus on Process Improvement and Design

Salary: $77,000 + superannuation

Location: Annandale, NSW 2038

Employment: Full time (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse production processes to find improvement opportunities to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure manufacturability of designs, including interpreting technical drawings, selecting materials and production techniques.
  • Conduct time studies to set performance standards. Design and implement efficient workflows.
  • Develop and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery of projects, balancing labour and equipment availability.
  • Recommend layout and equipment changes to boost productivity.
  • Ensure safety and quality compliance by implementing quality assurance protocols to meet industry standards and customer specification.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate records to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Oversee regular maintenance of equipment and machinery to ensure smooth production and minimize downtime. Set up and troubleshoot machines as needed.
  • Monitor and control production costs, suggest improvements or alternative methods to maintain profitability.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques, such as 5S or Kaizen, to streamline operations and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Provide training for production staff on new technologies, processes, and safety measures to enhance workforce productivity.

Skills, qualification & experience

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Industrial Engineering or related field, or at least 3 years’ highly relevant experience may substitute for lack of relevant qualification.
  • Minimum 1-year full-time experience as an industrial engineering technologist/technician or Industrial engineer in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in engineering and production software (e.g., AutoCAD, Lean tools, Award Pro, etc.)
  • Knowledge of quality control and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Why Why analysis, 6M’s Lean Manufacturing) etc.
  • Strong technical knowledge of machinery operation, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to interpret design specifications and follow instructions accurately.
  • Proven experience working with CO2 and RMI lasers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
