About the Ngaanyatjarra Council
Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.
Our Vision:
Representing the aspirations and interests of our diverse communities, we are dedicated to keeping Yarnangu strong on Country.
The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a couple to join the Ngaanyatjarra Council in a dual role that supports community engagement and development in the Ngaanyatjarra region. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to make a shared impact, working closely together to foster community participation and enhance employment opportunities.
The role of Engagement Officers involves connecting with stakeholders and community members to identify and deliver meaningful activities, training, and mentoring programs. Together, you will support individuals in overcoming barriers to employment, developing essential life and work skills, and achieving personal and professional growth.
This is an ideal opportunity for a couple passionate about community development, ready to live and work in a remote setting, and committed to driving lasting positive change in the lives of the Yarnangu people.
About You:
You are a motivated and compassionate couple with a shared passion for supporting vulnerable communities. Both of you bring strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experience in case management, mentoring, or community development is highly regarded.
Your adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and cultural sensitivity will serve you well in this unique environment. You are both organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. Most importantly, you are ready to immerse yourselves in a purpose-driven role where your work will have a meaningful and lasting impact.
What We Offer:
Purpose-Driven Environment: Experience a work culture that prioritises purpose and provides a deep sense of fulfilment, aligning with values that matter to you.
Flights and Accommodation: Flights and accommodation will be provided to you to allow for a seamless transition into your new role, ensuring that you can focus on making a positive impact from day one.
