Cook

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Cook who can work effectively in a busy kitchen environment. The role involves preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in line with our seasonal menus and high standards. You will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure all meals are delivered with care and consistency.

Task & responsibilities

Examining food to ensure quality before preparation and during cooking

Planning and preparing menu items in consultation with the Head Chef or kitchen supervisor

Preparing, seasoning, cooking, and presenting meals using grills, ovens, fryers, and other kitchen equipment

Portioning food, arranging and garnishing dishes as required for service

Storing food properly using safe handling techniques to maintain freshness and comply with food safety guidelines (HACCP)

Monitoring food preparation and cooking techniques to ensure consistency and quality

Estimating food and supply requirements, and ordering or requisitioning stock as necessary

Receiving and storing deliveries, and checking for proper temperature, quality, and rotation

Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including all food prep areas, utensils, and equipment

Ensuring compliance with food hygiene and workplace safety regulations

Training and supervising kitchen assistants or junior staff as needed

Adapting dishes for dietary requirements, including gluten-free, vegetarian, or allergen-sensitive requests

Collaborating with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and smooth food service

Qualification & experience

Minimum Cert III required.

Minimum One year of work experience required in a similar environment
