We are currently seeking an experienced Japanese cook to join our dynamic and passionate kitchen team.

Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook Japanese dishes according to the restaurant’s menu including sushi rice, fresh fish, and sushi items (nigiri, rolls, sashimi, etc) following proper handling and presentation standards
  • Cook hot food including tempura, donburi, teriyaki, udon, grilled items, fried food, and soups
  • Maintain portion sizes to ensure consistency and food quality
  • Collaborate with kitchen staffs and FOH team to ensure smooth and timely service flow
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Monitor ingredient freshness and rotate stock to ensure quality
  • Assist with inventory and ordering of ingredients
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe dining environment

Qualification & experience

  • Have a trade qualification such as kitchen management
  • Have at least one year of work experience for the role 
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills
  • Able to stay calm and focused during busy periods 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Knowledge of traditional Japanese ingredients, sauces, and cooking methods
  • Understanding of kitchen safety standards and hygiene protocols.
