About the Opportunity

As our business continues to grow, we have a great opportunity for an experienced Consultant – Mechanical Engineering to join our team in Perth, on a permanent full-time basis.

As a Consultant – Mechanical Engineering you’ll provide the knowledge, technical expertise, and professional support needed to deliver outcomes across assigned projects. You’ll plan, design, and oversee the construction, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems across industries such as mining, energy, and construction. This role includes analysing data, supporting project planning, tracking manufacturing and installation activities, and ensuring quality, compliance, and cost control. Building strong relationships with clients and team members is key, along with contributing to technical documentation, supporting reporting activities, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation, all while maintaining high standards of accuracy and communication.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Actively adding value to the execution of project plans. Provide support as directed by team leaders to the specific projects as assigned.
  • Reviewing, interpreting and analysing data from various records and present findings in various formats based on project requirements to enhance decision making processes.
  • Planning, developing and tracking the manufacturing, operation and installation of mechanical system projects.
  • Monitoring and optimising project schedules using relevant programs such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project for various projects.
  • Conducting cost analysis to ensure financial compliance and effective cost control.
  • Estimating and maintaining accurate construction cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborating with the team for the preparation of deliverables for client submissions, including completing analysis, writing reports and preparing any other project outputs. 
  • Applying engineering principles (civil, mechanical, etc.) across diverse industries, including mining, health, construction, energy, etc ensuring compliance with technical standards and regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitoring changes to designs, assessing effects on time and cost, and measuring, value variations to scope of works. 
  • Demonstrating the ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively with team members on technical work.
  • Studying engineering drawings and specifications to estimate quantities, production rates and costs. 
  • Providing clear written and verbal communication with senior team members, providing updates and insights to facilitate informed decision-making to project manager.
  • Supporting team members in identifying value-added opportunities and process improvements, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery and TBH administrative requirements.
  • Demonstrating accuracy and quality standards during the preparation of documents, conducting thorough checks to ensure factual correctness and minimize errors for team members and clients.
  • Contributing to innovative projects through research and development initiatives, actively engaging in the exploration of new methodologies and practices.
  • Tracking the assembly, construction and commissioning various projects including mechanical and process plant and installations.
  • Establishing programs for the coordination of manufacturing activities, and ensure usage of resources is cost effective.
  • Establishing standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance according to engineering principles.
  • Carrying out inspections as required.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying.
  • Relevant experience in similar role.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical software commonly used at TBH.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, (deductive and inductive reasoning), with the initiative to identify new and innovative solutions; and the ability to clearly communicate and explain your approach.
  • Awareness and knowledge of project management and project controls principles.
  • A commitment to maintaining of professional ethics in both works completed and in the way communication across all channels.
  • A proactive attitude toward seeking regular feedback.
  • The ability to apply critical thinking to problem-solving across tasks and projects.
  • A strong dedication to achieving project deliverables.
