We’re seeking a qualified Civil Engineering Technician to join our growing project teams in Sydney. Reporting to the Project Engineer/Project Manager, you’ll provide technical support in planning, surveying, testing, and overseeing civil works to ensure projects are delivered to specification, on time, and within budget. Your work will contribute to the successful delivery of infrastructure projects that meet safety, quality, and environmental standards across Greater Sydney.

Task & responsibilities
- Confined Space: Apply confined-space entry procedures and controls during inspections and repairs; Confined Space training with at least 12 months of experience.
- Drone inspections: Plan and conduct drone-assisted visual inspections; maintain flight records and safety protocols; formal training in drone operation with at least 6 months of experience.
- Assist engineers on projects such as sewer tunnel rehabilitation, pressure tunnel dewatering/inspection, drainage pipeline repairs and concrete remediation by coordinating site logistics, access and quality records.
- Prepare sketches, drawings, charts and tabulations; collate quantities and assist with cost estimates, work packs and method statements.
- Conduct/coordinate field and laboratory tests of construction materials (e.g., concrete/grout sampling); maintain test registers and compile QA/ITP reports.
- Carry out condition surveys (visual, measurements, photos/video), capture defects and as-built data; contribute to asset records and close-out documentation.
- Support temporary works, dewatering, confined-space access controls and safety briefings for inspections and repairs in shafts, tunnels and culverts.
- Liaise with supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers; check work against specifications, standards and SWMS/JSA; raise NCRs and improvement actions where required.
- Use digital tools (e.g., drones, tablets) plus AutoCAD/Excel to produce drawings, reports and dashboards.
Qualification & experience
- AQF Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in water/sewer, drainage or concrete rehabilitation projects.
- Competent with AutoCAD (or similar), MS Excel and field data capture; strong technical reporting and attention to detail.
- Understanding of materials testing, civil construction methods and QA processes.
- Proven commitment to safety in access-challenged and confined environments.
- White Card, Confined Space and Working at Heights (or ability to obtain); current NSW driver's licence.
