Sree Durga Devi Food Pty Ltd trading as Sree Flavours is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef with expertise in authentic South Indian, particularly Kerala cuisine, to join our kitchen team in Pendle Hill, NSW. This is a full-time position, ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to lead in a busy commercial kitchen.

Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of traditional Kerala and South Indian dishes such as dosa, idli, vada, sambar, rasam, biryani, Kerala-style fish curry, and vegetarian/non-vegetarian thalis.
  • Regularly design and update menus to reflect seasonal produce, regional variety, and customer preferences while staying true to authentic flavours.
  • Ensure consistent quality, portioning, and presentation of all dishes.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations and coordinate kitchen staff during service.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in compliance with Australian food regulations.
  • Manage inventory, control stock levels, and liaise with suppliers to source quality ingredients.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on preparation techniques and safety protocols.
  • Help develop efficient kitchen procedures to enhance productivity.
  • Monitor customer feedback and adjust offerings to enhance satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with management on promotional menus and special events.

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum 4 years of full-time experience as a chef specialising in South Indian (preferably Kerala) cuisine.
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of  South Indian cooking techniques, regional spices, and traditional dishes.
  • Strong kitchen management, staff coordination, and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Australian food handling and workplace health and safety standards.
