Task & responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with Café Lurline recipes and standards
- Plan, organise, and prioritise daily kitchen operations
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records
- Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials, and recipe development to showcase fresh local produce
- Monitor food costs, portion control, and wastage to meet budget targets and maintain profitability
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient service
- Prepare mise en place for service across all food outlets
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in line with food safety regulations
- Ensure food quality, portioning, and presentation meet established standards set by the Head Chef
- Follow safe work practices, including correct manual handling and responsible use of chemicals
- Maintain high personal hygiene and comply with uniform policies
- Adhere to all recipes, preparation, and presentation guidelines as per Café Lurline policy
- Ensure compliance with OH&S policies, procedures, and regulations
- Uphold high standards in handling, storing, and preparing food
- Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen are presented to the highest standard
- Complete mandatory training modules and attend training sessions and team meetings as required
- Support general cleaning and kitchen organisation in line with daily operations
Qualification & experience
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef or in a comparable role within a professional kitchen (Australian or overseas experience accepted)
- Hotel Management Diploma or Culinary Degree (highly regarded)
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Cafe Lurline is a contemporary dining destination that focuses on providing a new and unique experience for breakfast and lunch. Open every Wednesday to Monday from 8am to 3pm. Plus Pedro’s Grill by Café Lurline is open to serve a sumptuous dinner every Friday and Saturday evening from 5pm to 8pm.
