Task & responsibilities

  • Menu planning (including seasonal menu planning) and estimating food and labour costs.
  • Prepare daily specials, including tacos, blending Australian and Indian cuisines.
  • Plan and develop innovative menus to enhance customer dining experience.
  • Cook a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and high-quality presentation.
  • Manage food preparation during peak hours, maintaining efficiency under pressure.
  • Oversee inventory, ensuring proper stock rotation and minimizing waste.
  • Train new kitchen staff on food preparation and safety protocols.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline kitchen operations.
  • Handle customer dietary requests and allergies with precision.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to meet establishment standards.
  • Optimize ingredient usage to control costs without compromising quality.

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum of a Diploma qualification or equivalent in substantial experience.
  • Cert III Commercial Cookery & Cert IV
  • At least 2 years of experience in highly relevant role required.

Essential Skills:

  • Good cooking and presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and assist with all facets of kitchen operation.
  • Able to work in a team and lead a team.
  • Good communication skills
  • Maintain good health and hygiene.
  • Ability to train cooks and junior staff.
  • Great time management and organisation skills
