Task & responsibilities
Carpentry Duties
- Read and interpret building plans, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and structural requirements for walls, floors, roofs, partitions and other frameworks
- Set out and mark site dimensions, levels, and reference points for construction work
- Cut, assemble, and erect timber and timber-based materials to form frameworks, flooring systems, roof trusses, partitions, and ceilings
- Construct and dismantle formwork for concrete foundations, slabs, and other structural elements
- Install structural cladding, sub-flooring, decking, fencing, and other timber or composite elements for external building works
- Use hand and power tools, portable machinery, and construction equipment to cut, shape, join, and fasten structural components
- Inspect and repair damaged structural elements to restore strength, safety, and weather resistance
Manufacturing Duties
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for windows, doors, stairs, cabinetry, cladding and benchtops
- Measure, cut, and shape timber using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as table saws, routers, and planers
- Join timber pieces using various techniques including mortise and tenon, dovetail, and dowel joints
- Sand, finish, and apply protective coatings to timber products
- Operate specialized woodworking machinery safely and maintain equipment in good working condition
- Carry out quality control inspections of finished products to ensure they meet specifications and standards
Installation Duties
- Travel to client sites to install windows, doors, stairs, cabinetry, cladding and benchtops
- Take accurate site measurements and assess installation requirements
- Prepare installation sites including removing old joinery and making necessary adjustments to openings
- Install timber windows and doors ensuring proper alignment, weatherproofing, and security
- Fit and install benchtops, bartops, cupboards, and shelving with precise measurements and finishing
- Install hardware such as handles, locks, hinges, catches, and weatherstripping
- Align and secure interior finishes such as skirting, architraves, and mouldings
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop and job site environment
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times
- Communicate with supervisors, colleagues, and clients regarding project progress and any issues
- Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and machinery
- Assist with material handling, stock management, and workshop/site maintenance
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to meet project deadlines
- Provide excellent customer service during client interactions and installation visits
Qualification & experience
Qualification requirement: AQF Certificate III in Carpentry including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
Work experience requirement: The successful applicant will have at least 1 year of full-time work experience as a Carpenter. We may also consider your application if you have 3 years of work experience if you do not hold a qualification as listed above.
A valid White Card is required for this position.
