ACCOUNTANT (General)

Position Title: Accountant (General)

Company: Compassion Health Services Pty Ltd – Right at Home Melbourne North

Employment Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum

Position Purpose

The Accountant (General) will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, and supporting management in financial planning and decision-making. This role contributes directly to the organisation’s financial sustainability and operational growth.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, examine, and maintain financial statements, budgets, and management reports.

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

Ensure compliance with taxation requirements, superannuation obligations, and statutory reporting.

Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.

Provide financial advice to management for effective business decision-making.

Assist in the development of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and external stakeholders as required.

Support funding, grant, and compliance reporting relevant to the health sector.

Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience

Membership or eligibility for CPA/CA/IPA (preferred but not mandatory).

Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax legislation.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or equivalent) and MS Excel.

High level of analytical and problem-solving ability.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
