Task & responsibilities

Plan, coordinate and oversee civil engineering activities associated with residential and commercial construction projects, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications and applicable standards.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, structural plans and technical specifications to determine appropriate construction methods, materials and quality requirements.

Undertake engineering assessments and technical calculations relating to site preparation, foundations, concrete works, drainage and other relevant civil and structural elements.

Prepare construction schedules, technical documentation, engineering reports, project cost estimates and material requirements to support effective project delivery.

Coordinate construction activities with site supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of labour, materials, plant and equipment.

Monitor construction progress, project expenditure and resource allocation to ensure works are completed within approved budgets and project timelines.

Identify and assess engineering design changes, construction issues and project variations, recommending practical and cost-effective technical solutions.

Conduct site inspections and quality assessments to verify that construction activities comply with engineering specifications, Australian Standards and relevant building regulations.

Liaise with architects, structural engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and coordinate engineering requirements.

Assist in implementing project quality assurance, risk management and workplace health and safety procedures throughout construction activities.

Qualification & experience

Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Relevant minimum 1 year experience in civil engineering, construction engineering or project engineering, preferably within residential or commercial construction.

Sound knowledge of engineering principles, construction methods, materials and Australian Standards.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and construction documentation.

Experience in project scheduling, cost estimation, site coordination and construction quality control.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.

Proficiency in relevant engineering and project management software.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with construction teams and external consultants.
