About the role
We are seeking an experienced Retail Store Manager to organise and manage the operations of our Cairns Central store.
The successful candidate will lead the store team, drive sales, manage stock and purchasing, oversee store financial performance and maintain excellent customer service across retail sales and repair services.
Key Responsibilities
As the Retail Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of the store, including:
- Managing daily store operations and ensuring high standards of customer service;
- Leading, supervising, training and supporting the store team;
- Preparing staff rosters and allocating duties to ensure appropriate store coverage;
- Monitoring sales performance, expenses, budgets and store profitability;
- Managing stock levels, stocktakes and inventory control;
- Ordering products, accessories, repair parts and store supplies in line with company procedures;
- Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, quality and deliveries;
- Reviewing product pricing and service charges within company guidelines;
- Coordinating in-store promotions, merchandising and product displays;
- Overseeing sales and assisting customers with mobile devices, accessories, repairs and other services;
- Coordinating repair bookings and working with technicians to ensure jobs are completed efficiently;
- Managing customer enquiries, complaints, returns and warranty matters;
- Overseeing POS transactions, cash handling and daily reconciliations;
- Maintaining accurate sales, stock and operational records;
- Supporting recruitment, induction, training and performance management of store staff; and
- Ensuring the store is safe, organised, well presented and compliant with company and workplace health and safety requirements.
The Retail Manager will have responsibility for the store’s day-to-day staffing, stock management, sales performance, merchandising and operational decisions.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Retail Management, Business, Management or a related field;
- At least 12 months of experience in retail management or a comparable role involving responsibility for staff, inventory and store performance; and
- Experience in electronics retail, mobile phone accessories or a retail business offering device repair services is desirable.
In addition, the successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong leadership skills and experience selecting, training and supervising staff;
- Excellent customer service, communication and organisational skills;
- Experience managing purchasing, inventory, budgets and sales performance;
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and operational issues effectively;
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures;
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, inventory software and reporting tools; and
- Ability to prioritise competing demands in a busy retail environment.
