About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager (General) to organise and oversee the day-to-day operations of the supermarket. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock, purchasing, sales and service standards, staff performance, financial controls and overall store operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Determine the appropriate product mix, stock levels and customer service standards to meet customer demand and support efficient store operations.
• Monitor inventory levels, product movement and sales trends and coordinate replenishment to maintain appropriate stock availability.
• Formulate and implement purchasing policies and procedures, including liaising with suppliers and coordinating the procurement of retail products.
• Review product costs, market conditions and sales performance to assist in setting and maintaining appropriate retail prices.
• Develop and implement marketing, merchandising and promotional strategies to increase product visibility, customer engagement and store sales.
• Coordinate the promotion and advertising of the supermarket's products, special offers and services.
• Oversee customer service operations, assist customers with product enquiries and ensure a consistently high standard of service.
• Maintain accurate records relating to stock levels, sales, purchases and financial transactions.
• Prepare and monitor store budgets, revenue and operating expenses, and review financial and sales performance against business objectives.
• Analyse sales and financial information to identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Manage the recruitment, selection, rostering, training, supervision and performance of retail staff.
• Allocate duties and monitor employee performance to ensure effective coverage across supermarket operations.
• Establish and maintain operational procedures and service standards to support the smooth running of the store.
• Handle and resolve customer complaints and operational issues in a professional and timely manner.
• Ensure the store complies with applicable work health and safety requirements, workplace procedures and retail operational standards.
• Maintain a safe, organised and customer-friendly retail environment.

Skills and Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Retail Management, Business Management or a related discipline is desirable.
• Relevant experience in retail or supermarket management.
• Demonstrated experience managing staff, rostering, training and workplace performance.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, purchasing and stock control.
• Experience with budgeting, sales monitoring and financial record management.
• Ability to analyse sales performance and implement strategies to improve store performance.
• Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy supermarket environment and manage competing operational priorities.
