The Software Integration Engineer will provide hands-on software engineering capability to support an enterprise integration and cyber-governance program and our broader Australian client delivery requirements. The position will design, develop, test, deploy and support secure enterprise integration solutions by connecting approved applications, data platforms and client environments through secure integration processes.

Task & responsibilities

  1. Enterprise Integration Engineering: Design, develop, test and maintain complex enterprise-grade automated workflows and ETL/ELT pipelines using the Boomi iPaaS platform, including custom scripts (Groovy/JavaScript) and map functions for complex transformation logic.
  2. AI Framework: Develop, test, deploy and optimise proprietary solution accelerators using reusable integration components, including the BIMBA AI automation framework and EasyTrace monitoring capabilities, to accelerate data transformations and reduce integration delivery timeframes.
  3. Secure API Architecture: Design, build, expose and secure robust REST and SOAP API gateways to connect complex enterprise applications (including ERP, CRM and HR platforms such as SAP, Salesforce and Workday), implementing authentication, authorisation, token management and least-privilege access controls.
  4. Data Lakehouse Engineering: Analyse, design and develop source-to-target mappings and transformations (XML, JSON, flat files) to feed clean, governed data into modern cloud environments (including Snowflake and Databricks where applicable).
  5. Code Quality and Middleware Modernisation: Conduct hands-on code reviews to identify defects earlier in the development lifecycle. Review legacy middleware components to identify technical limitations, defects and migration requirements. Prepare logical schema mappings and technical documentation and conduct system and end-to-end testing.
  6. Stakeholder Alignment and Solution Delivery: Participate in and, where assigned, facilitate technical discovery workshops to analyse and document requirements, prepare technical specifications, manage environment deployments using CI/CD principles, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) within authorised client environments.
  7. Secure Development Practices: Implement appropriate endpoint and integration security controls, including TLS encryption for data in transit, secure configuration, secrets management, least-privilege access and logging, to protect sensitive client information assets.
  8. Operational Support: Analyse execution metrics and logs from production systems to identify and resolve integration defects, failed transactions, anomalous behaviour and performance issues in accordance with agreed service priorities.

Qualification & experience

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Industry Experience: At least eight (8) years of professional software engineering experience specifically focused on middleware architectures, cloud data, or enterprise system integration frameworks is required.
  • Technical Mastery: Proven hands-on experience designing, developing, testing and deploying production end-to-end integration processes using the Boomi platform.
  • Data & Cloud Skills: Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, managing XML/JSON data streams, and working with integration services and secure connectivity within public cloud environments.
  • Ecosystem Exposure: Direct experience connecting modern data platforms like Snowflake or Databricks is highly regarded.
  • Cyber Awareness: Deep understanding of secure integration and cybersecurity principles, including protected network connectivity, encryption in transit, token-based authentication and least-privilege access controls, with experience contributing to security-control evidence for regulated or security-sensitive environments.
  • Delivery Methodology and Communication: Strong stakeholder communication skills and experience working in Agile delivery environments using version control, peer review, CI/CD and structured testing practices.    

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience integrating SAP, Salesforce, Workday or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Exposure to Snowflake, Databricks or comparable cloud data platforms.
  • Experience supporting legacy middleware migration or decommissioning.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted integration patterns.
  • Experience delivering solutions in regulated or security-sensitive client environments.
