Tharaj Tiling Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and skilled Wall and Floor Tiler to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing surfaces, laying and finishing a variety of tiles, undertaking waterproofing and completing tiling work to a high standard across residential and commercial projects. The role will also involve providing guidance to junior tilers and supervising their tiling activities.

Task & responsibilities

The tasks and duties of a full-time Wall and Floor tiler are given below but not limited to:

• Review plans, specifications and work areas to determine tiling requirements, measure and mark surfaces, and plan tile layouts.
• Prepare walls and floors by removing existing tiles, grout and adhesive, repairing holes and cracks, levelling uneven areas and cleaning surfaces.
• Apply suitable adhesives to prepared surfaces and tiles using appropriate tools and installation techniques.
• Lay and fix ceramic, porcelain, stone, mosaic and other tiles to walls and floors in accordance with project specifications.
• Cut and shape tiles to fit edges, corners, openings and around fittings, pipes and other obstructions.
• Check tile positioning throughout installation to maintain accurate alignment, level surfaces and consistent spacing.
• Apply grout to tile joints, remove excess grout, and clean and finish tiled surfaces to a high standard.
• Prepare and apply waterproofing systems in bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas where required.
• Create decorative patterns and mosaic finishes using coloured tiles in accordance with design requirements.
• Lay granolithic, terrazzo, cement or similar floor finishes where required.
• Inspect completed and ongoing work to ensure it meets project specifications and quality standards.
• Repair or replace damaged tiles and rectify defects in existing tiled surfaces.
• Advise clients on tile selection, layouts, finishes and ongoing care and maintenance.
• Provide practical guidance to junior tilers and monitor their work to maintain quality, safety and project standards.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling (Mandatory)
• Certificate IV in Building and Construction or a  relevant higher-level qualification (Preferred)
• At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Wall and Floor Tiler.
• Experience working with ceramic, porcelain, stone, mosaic and other types of tiles.
• Able to work in a team or independently as per required by the project
