This role goes well beyond mowing and edging. You’ll combine specialist horticultural care with hands-on landscaping and garden construction, including paving, retaining walls, garden bed construction and planting installations. You’ll work from landscape plans on design and construction projects, while maintaining the health and presentation of established high-end gardens through ongoing care programs. This is a senior position and preferably should have 3 years experience as a Landscape Gardener.

Task & responsibilities

As a full-time Landscape Gardener your key task and responsibilities are but not limited to:

• Prepare garden beds and planting areas, including soil cultivation, improvement and site preparation.
• Select and install trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers and other plants suited to the landscape design and growing conditions.
• Prepare and establish lawns through topsoil preparation, turf laying and lawn renovation.
• Maintain gardens and lawns through mowing, edging, weeding, watering, fertilising and plant nutrition programs.
• Carry out skilled pruning, trimming and hedging to maintain plant health, shape and presentation, including installing plant supports where required.
• Monitor plant and turf health, identify pests and diseases, and apply appropriate treatments.
• Read and interpret landscape plans and design drawings to set out planting areas and landscape construction works.
• Construct and install landscape features, including paving, retaining walls, timber and stone edging, drainage and garden beds.
• Operate and maintain landscaping tools and machinery, including mini excavators and plate compactors, with training provided where required.
• Build strong client relationships, communicate job progress and provide practical advice on garden care and maintenance.
• Work safely and efficiently, both independently and as part of a two-person crew.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a Landscape Gardener.
• Certificate III in Landscape Construction (Mandatory)
• Diploma in Building & Construction (Highly Preferred)
• Practical landscaping/construction experience - paving, retaining walls, drainage or similar hard landscaping work highly regarded
• Strong plant knowledge and genuine passion for quality garden care
• Comfortable using landscaping tools and equipment
• Ability to read basic landscape plans (or willingness to learn)
