JBELL Drilling is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Driller’s Assistant to join our drilling operations team. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced drillers, providing operational and technical assistance across drilling projects while maintaining high standards of safety, equipment care and productivity.
This is a full-time position providing hands-on assistance to JBELL Drilling’s drilling crews. The role requires a practical, safety-conscious individual who can support drilling activities, equipment maintenance, site preparation and the efficient day-to-day operation of drilling projects.

• Assist drillers with the setup, operation and dismantling of drilling rigs and associated equipment.
• Handle drill rods, casing, core barrels, drilling tools and other equipment during drilling operations.
• Assist with rod handling, changing drill bits and preparing drilling equipment for operations.
• Support the collection, handling, identification and storage of drilling samples and core where required.
• Prepare drilling fluids, additives and other materials used during drilling activities.
• Inspect, clean and maintain drilling equipment, tools, pumps, hoses and associated machinery.
• Assist with routine servicing and minor maintenance of drilling rigs and equipment.
• Load, unload and safely transport drilling equipment, tools and materials around worksites.
• Maintain clean, organised and safe drilling work areas.
• Monitor equipment during operations and promptly report faults, damage or safety concerns to the Driller or Supervisor.
• Follow drilling procedures, site instructions and environmental requirements.
• Comply with WHS procedures, risk assessments, safe work method statements and site-specific safety requirements.
• Assist with mobilisation and demobilisation of drilling equipment between projects.
• Work effectively as part of the drilling crew to achieve operational and project requirements.
The successful applicant will ideally have:
• Previous experience in drilling, mining, civil construction, exploration or a similar physically demanding environment.
• Experience assisting with drilling operations or operating machinery is highly regarded.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to undertake physically demanding work and work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and work rostered hours where required.
