Tasbuilt Group is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team in Westbury, Tasmania. The successful candidate will support the organisation's accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance and financial analysis activities while maintaining accurate accounting records and effective financial controls.

This is a full-time opportunity for an accounting professional who can contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of the organisation's financial processes and reporting.

Task & responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Monitor income, expenditure, budgets and cash flow, including performing general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and process payment runs, maintain stock records, and support month-end and year-end financial reporting and closing procedures.
• Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, prepayments and accounting adjustments.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis activities.
• Assist with the preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure compliance with GST requirements.
• Maintain accounting records and support the implementation and monitoring of internal control systems.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, variances and reconciliation issues.
• Support the review of accounting procedures and contribute to improving financial processes and operational efficiency.
• Assist with audit preparation and compliance activities and provide supporting documentation when required.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist with analysing operating costs, revenue, expenses and overall financial performance to support business decision-making.

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Professional Accounting or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and general ledger processes.
• Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, accruals and accounting adjustments.
• Understanding of BAS, GST and relevant accounting compliance requirements.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
