Task & responsibilities

➢ Study blueprints, specifications and building drawings to determine required carpentry materials, measures, dimensions and installation methods.

➢ Measure, mark, and lay out areas of construction according to blueprints and specifications to ensure precise placement of structures, such as carpentry.

➢ Build and erect frameworks for walls and ceilings using appropriate timber materials, equipment and mechanical fasteners.

➢ Construct eaves and install roof trusses according to building plans, specifications and construction methods.

➢ Construct and install flooring systems from timber products assuring accurate measuring, alignment and safe fastening

➢ Build and fix external stairs, panels and partitions using acceptable timber materials and mechanical fixings such as nails, screws and brackets.

➢ Install and fit windows and doors into wall frames, making sure they are properly positioned, aligned and secured.

➢ Fit associated door and window furnishings, such as hinges, knobs and locks, to make sure they operate correctly and are secured.

➢ Inspect for damaged or degraded timber, then repair and upgrade existing wooden buildings by removing and replacing affected components.

Qualification & experience

o Interpreting blueprints, specifications and construction drawings for carpentry work

o Accurate measurement, marking and setting out of construction areas

o Constructing and erecting timber wall and ceiling frames

o Constructing roof trusses and installing eaves according to specifications

o Installing timber flooring systems with accurate alignment and secure fastening

o Constructing external stairs, panelling, partitions and other timber structures

o Installing and fitting windows, doors, hinges, handles and locking hardware

o Repairing, renovating and replacing damaged or deteriorated timber structures
