About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, servicing and repairing a range of electronic equipment and devices. The position requires strong technical fault-finding skills and the ability to test, dismantle, repair, reassemble and verify electronic equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Examine and test electronic equipment, devices, components and associated systems to identify faults and determine appropriate repairs.
- Diagnose electronic and electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment, instruments, technical specifications and fault-finding procedures.
- Dismantle electronic equipment and inspect internal components, circuitry, wiring and connections to identify damaged, worn or defective parts.
- Adjust, repair and replace faulty electronic components, parts, wiring, connectors and related assemblies.
- Carry out maintenance and servicing of electronic equipment to ensure proper and reliable operation.
- Reassemble electronic equipment following repairs and conduct operational testing to confirm that faults have been rectified.
- Test, adjust and configure repaired or installed equipment to ensure it operates in accordance with technical specifications.
- Install and set up electronic equipment, components and associated systems where required.
- Apply knowledge of electrical and electronic principles when diagnosing, repairing, commissioning and maintaining equipment.
- Use electronic testing instruments and appropriate tools safely and accurately when carrying out diagnostic and repair work.
- Advise customers and users on the correct operation and handling of electronic equipment to minimise faults and prevent avoidable malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, faults identified, repairs undertaken, components replaced and testing performed.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and relevant technical and manufacturer requirements when undertaking repair and maintenance activities.
Skills and Requirements
- AQF Certificate III in Electronics/Electronics and Communications or a relevant field, including appropriate on-the-job training; or AQF Certificate IV in a relevant discipline.
- Alternatively, at least 3 years of relevant industry experience may substitute for the formal qualification, consistent with the ANZSCO Skill Level 3 framework.
- Relevant practical experience in diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing electronic equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components, circuitry, wiring and fault-diagnosis techniques.
- Ability to confidently use electronic testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical information, equipment specifications and service documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain equipment operation and technical issues to customers.
