Butt Karahi is an established Pakistani restaurant specialising in authentic Lahori and Pakistani cuisine, including traditional Karahi, BBQ, Biryani, Pulao, Naan and vegetarian dishes. We are seeking an experienced and qualified Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful Chef will be responsible for planning, organising and preparing food to maintain the quality and authenticity of our menu while ensuring efficient day-to-day kitchen operations.

Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of Pakistani and South Asian dishes.
Prepare and cook traditional dishes including various Karahi, BBQ, Biryani, Pulao, curries, naan and vegetarian dishes.
Prepare meats, marinades, sauces, gravies, spice mixes and other ingredients according to established recipes and standards.
Monitor the quality, taste, portioning and presentation of dishes throughout food preparation and service.
Assist with menu planning, recipe development and estimating food requirements and ingredient quantities.
Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering food, ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Monitor stock levels, food storage, rotation and minimise food wastage.
Ensure food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and kitchen hygiene.
Operate and maintain commercial cooking equipment safely.
Coordinate food preparation to ensure meals are completed within service timeframes.
Discuss kitchen and food preparation requirements with management and other hospitality staff.
Demonstrate appropriate cooking techniques and assist junior kitchen staff with food preparation.
Train and supervise kitchen staff where required.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety and food safety requirements.
Assist with maintaining consistent quality and authentic flavours across the restaurant's menu.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
Diploma or Cert IV in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts or a related field.
Demonstrated experience preparing Pakistani, Indian or South Asian cuisine.
Strong knowledge of traditional cooking methods, spices, marinades and preparation techniques.
Experience preparing meat, curries, BBQ dishes, rice dishes and breads.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.
Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
