My Australia Direct is now accepting applications for a Horse Trainer/Rider with M.G. Price Racing & Breeding Pty. Ltd. Positions are full-time and available at Cranbourne, Victoria.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Train and condition thoroughbred racehorses through structured exercise and fitness programs to develop race readiness and maximise performance.
• Ride and exercise 8-10 horses each morning, with particular emphasis on pace work, timed gallops and jump-outs, to assess fitness, performance and racing potential.
• Assess horses' fitness, behaviour and performance during training and implement appropriate adjustments to training and conditioning programs.
• Educate and develop young horses, including foundation training, pre-training and preparation for racing and barrier trials.
• Monitor horses' health, welfare and physical condition, coordinating veterinary, farrier and rehabilitation requirements where necessary.
• Prepare horses for race meetings, barrier trials and other competitive events, ensuring they are fit, conditioned and ready to perform.

Skills and experience:

• Relevant qualification and at least one year' full-time relevant experience in a Horse Trainer or closely related role
• Strong knowledge of horse training, conditioning and handling methods specific to the thoroughbred racing industry.
• Proven ability to train, educate and develop young horses for racing and competition.
• Demonstrated experience in racehorse preparation, including pace work, timed gallops, jump-outs and barrier trial preparation.
• Ability to ride horses per morning safely and competently in a professional racing stable environment.
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
•  Ability to work in a team and independently
•  Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
• Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
