Khada Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team in Mount Gambier. This full-time role involves fabricating, assembling, repairing and maintaining metal components and structures using MIG, TIG and arc welding techniques. The Welder will interpret technical drawings, prepare materials, inspect completed welds and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.

Candidates should have a relevant trade qualification or equivalent industry experience, strong welding and fabrication skills, and the ability to work accurately both independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail, reliability and a strong commitment to workplace safety are essential.

Task & responsibilities

• Select suitable welding methods, materials, equipment and settings for each job
• Perform MIG, TIG, arc and other welding processes as required
• Measure, mark, cut, shape, bend and prepare metal components
• Fabricate and assemble metal structures, frames, machinery parts and components
• Position and align components using measuring tools, clamps and fixtures
• Join metal sections using welding, bolting, riveting and other approved methods
• Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting torches, drills and fabrication equipment
• Perform oxy-fuel, plasma and mechanical cutting where required
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, grinding, bevelling and removing contaminants
• Control heat input and welding sequence to minimise distortion and defects
• Carry out weld repairs, modifications and reinforcement work
• Inspect completed welds for size, penetration, alignment, strength and appearance
• Follow safe-work procedures, risk assessments and permit requirements
• Use personal protective equipment and comply with workplace health and safety standards

Qualification & experience

• Relevant trade qualification or equivalent industry experience
• Demonstrated experience in welding and metal fabrication
• Strong knowledge of welding processes, metals, consumables and safety requirements
• Ability to read technical drawings and work to specified measurements and tolerances
• Sound understanding of weld preparation, distortion control and defect correction
• Ability to use measuring, cutting, grinding and fabrication equipment safely
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills
• Physical ability to perform the inherent requirements of the position
