CorExpert Support Solutions Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Carer to join our team on a full-time basis, 38 hours per week.

The Personal Carer will provide high-quality, person-centred care and practical support to clients who require assistance with their daily living activities. The role focuses on promoting clients’ independence, dignity, wellbeing and quality of life while providing care in accordance with individual support plans and organisational procedures.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients, families and other support professionals to ensure that each client receives respectful, safe and individualised care.

The position may involve a flexible roster, including weekday, evening, weekend, overnight and public holiday shifts, depending on client support requirements.

Task & responsibilities

  • Providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including showering, bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
  • Assisting clients with mobility, positioning and safe transfers in accordance with appropriate manual-handling procedures.
  • Supporting clients with meal preparation, feeding and maintaining appropriate nutrition and hydration.
  • Assisting with medication in accordance with individual care plans, organisational policies and applicable requirements.
  • Supporting clients to maintain personal hygiene, comfort, dignity and general wellbeing.
  • Assisting clients with household and domestic activities necessary to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Providing companionship and emotional support and encouraging clients to maintain social connections.
  • Supporting clients to access the community, attend appointments, participate in recreational activities and undertake everyday errands.
  • Encouraging and supporting clients to develop and maintain independence in their daily routines and personal activities.
  • Following individual care plans, support plans and instructions provided by relevant health or care professionals.
  • Observing clients’ physical, emotional and behavioural wellbeing and promptly reporting changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records, progress notes, incident reports and other required care documentation.
  • Supporting clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner.
  • Following workplace health and safety, infection control, manual handling and risk-management procedures.
  • Identifying and reporting hazards, incidents or changes that may affect a client’s health, safety or wellbeing.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and protecting client privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, carers and relevant health and community service professionals.
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies and following the organisation’s established emergency and incident-management procedures.
  • Performing other care-related duties reasonably required to meet individual client needs.

Qualification & experience

The successful applicant should possess:

  • A relevant Cert III level qualification in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability, Community Services or a related field, or at least one year relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing personal care and support to individuals requiring assistance with daily living activities.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current National Police Clearance.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, where required for the clients being supported.
  • Working with Children Check, where applicable to the duties performed.
  • Sound understanding of person-centred care, duty of care, privacy, dignity and professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of safe manual-handling practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to follow individual care and support plans accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to recognise and report changes in a client’s health, behaviour or support requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary support team.
  • Reliability, patience, empathy and a professional approach to client care.
  • Availability to work across a flexible roster, including evenings, weekends and overnight shifts where required.
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds will be highly regarded.
  • Fluency in a language other than English will also be highly regarded, consistent with the company’s diverse client base.
