BEZHAN FEKRAT (Individual/Sole Trader) trading as Creative Touch Painting & Decorating is seeking an experienced and reliable Painter to join its team on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will undertake painting and decorating work across residential and commercial projects, including surface preparation, colour matching, application of paints and other finishes, wallpaper-related work and general site preparation. The role requires high-quality workmanship and compliance with applicable Australian Standards and Work Health and Safety requirements.

Task & responsibilities

• Set up ladders, access equipment and protective drop sheets to safely prepare work areas.
• Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling holes and cracks, smoothing, sealing and priming.
• Remove existing paint, coatings and wallpaper and prepare surfaces for new finishes.
• Select, mix and match paints to achieve required colours and finishes.
• Apply primers, undercoats, paints, varnishes, stains and other finishes using brushes, rollers and appropriate painting equipment.
• Undertake interior and exterior painting across residential and commercial buildings.
• Prepare surfaces for wallpaper installation and undertake wallpaper-related work as required.
• Estimate paint, materials and labour requirements for assigned projects.
• Clean, maintain and safely store painting equipment and maintain clean work areas.
• Supervise casual labourers assisting with surface preparation, site protection and general painting activities.
• Follow applicable Australian Standards and WHS requirements, including safe working-at-heights procedures.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• At least one year of relevant practical experience in residential and/or commercial painting and decorating.
• Demonstrated skills in surface preparation, colour matching and application of paints and finishes.
• Experience using painting tools, equipment and safe working-at-heights practices.
• Good knowledge of WHS requirements and safe work procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality finishes.
• Good communication, teamwork, organisation and time-management skills.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
