Task & responsibilities

• Managing and controlling the overall day-to-day operations of the retail store.
• Determining appropriate product mix, stock levels and customer service standards.
• Monitoring stock levels and coordinating purchasing and ordering to ensure adequate availability of products.
• Liaising and negotiating with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, quality and supply requirements.
• Assisting in developing and implementing purchasing, pricing, merchandising and promotional strategies.
• Monitoring product pricing and making recommendations to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
• Planning and coordinating the presentation, merchandising and promotion of products throughout the store.
• Monitoring sales performance, operating costs and other financial transactions to support the profitability of the business.
• Preparing and monitoring store budgets and assisting with cost control.
• Maintaining accurate records relating to stock levels, purchases, sales and financial transactions.
• Recruiting, training, supervising and coordinating retail staff.
• Preparing staff rosters and allocating duties according to operational requirements.
• Monitoring employee performance and providing ongoing training, guidance and support.
• Establishing and maintaining high standards of customer service.
• Assisting customers with product enquiries and resolving customer complaints in a professional and timely manner.
• Identifying opportunities to improve sales, customer satisfaction and overall store performance.
• Ensuring the store is maintained in a clean, organised and professional manner.
• Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and relevant company policies and procedures.

Qualification & experience

• Relevant qualifications in retail management, business, management or a related field; and/or substantial relevant retail management experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing the operations of a retail establishment.
• Strong staff management, supervision and leadership skills.
• Experience in stock control, purchasing, supplier management and merchandising.
• Good understanding of retail pricing, sales performance and cost control.
• Strong customer service and complaint-resolution skills.
• Good organisational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage competing operational priorities in a busy retail environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
