Macelleria, located in Moonee Ponds VIC, is looking for a qualified and experienced Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. We are seeking someone who is passionate about food and has the ability to work effectively in a busy and high-pressure kitchen environment while consistently maintaining the high standards expected by the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, season and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and restaurant standards. 
• Prepare meat, vegetables, sauces and other ingredients required for daily service.  
• Operate grills, ovens, stoves and other commercial cooking equipment safely and efficiently. 
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is prepared correctly and consistently. 
• Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements where required. 
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before preparation and cooking. 
• Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation and portion control. 
• Assist with stock control, food storage and rotation of ingredients to minimise wastage. 
• Ensure food preparation, handling and storage complies with food safety and hygiene requirements. 
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen and workstation. 
• Work effectively with Chefs, Cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely food service. 
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain Macelleria's established kitchen standards.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:

• A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related hospitality discipline, such as Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent relevant qualification. 
• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience as a Cook in a busy commercial kitchen environment. 
• Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in a professional food-service environment. 
• Proven ability to work efficiently in a busy and high-pressure kitchen while maintaining quality and consistency. 
• Strong knowledge of commercial cooking techniques, food preparation methods and kitchen equipment. 
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling requirements. 
• Ability to consistently maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control. 
• Strong organisational and time-management skills. 
• Ability to follow recipes, preparation instructions and established kitchen procedures. 
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a kitchen team. 
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining Macelleria's food and service standards. 
• Reliability, professionalism and a positive "can-do" attitude.

Employment Conditions

• This is a full-time position, with a minimum of 38 hours per week.
• Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on qualifications, skills and relevant experience.
