Task & responsibilities

• Overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the retail outlet to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable business performance. 
• Organising and controlling retail operations, including customer service, stock control, sales performance, and staff supervision. 
• Determining product mix, stock levels, and service standards in line with customer demand, business requirements, and market trends. 
• Formulating and implementing purchasing policies to ensure cost-effective procurement, stock availability, and quality control. 
• Setting and monitoring pricing strategies, product displays, promotional materials, and sales initiatives to maximise revenue. 
• Coordinating stock procurement, delivery acceptance, stock rotation, and inventory control to ensure product availability and minimise wastage. 
• Maintaining accurate records of inventory, sales, revenue, expenditure, banking, and financial transactions. 
• Analysing sales data, customer demand, and financial performance to support business planning, budgeting, and profitability goals. 
• Establishing and monitoring sales targets, staff productivity goals, and service benchmarks to ensure the outlet meets its commercial objectives. 
• Developing and implementing staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage, operational efficiency, and high customer service standards. 
• Recruiting, onboarding, training, supervising, and evaluating staff to ensure performance standards and business objectives are achieved. 
• Allocating duties to staff, monitoring productivity, and providing guidance and feedback to improve team performance. 
• Delivering high standards of customer service by responding to customer enquiries, resolving complaints, and improving the customer experience. 
• Implementing marketing and promotional activities, including special offers, bundled deals, and local advertising initiatives to increase sales. 
• Participating in community marketing activities and overseeing social media promotions to support brand awareness and customer engagement. 
• Managing point-of-sale systems, electronic payment processes, cash handling, and end-of-day reconciliation procedures. 
• Liaising with suppliers, wholesalers, service providers, and business stakeholders regarding stock supply, pricing, deliveries, and operational matters. 
• Monitoring stock movement, product shelf life, damaged goods, and wastage to maintain efficient stock usage and reduce business losses. 
• Reviewing customer feedback, competitor activity, and market conditions to improve product offerings, pricing strategies, and overall retail performance. 
• Introducing operational initiatives to improve store efficiency, enhance service quality, increase sales, and strengthen customer loyalty. 
• Ensuring compliance with workplace policies, occupational health and safety procedures, consumer requirements, and relevant business operating standards.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum AQF Diploma or higher in a relevant field.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in retail management or a similar role.
• Strong leadership and staff management skills.
• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in inventory control, sales strategies, and store performance management.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service and store standards.
