Renaissance Infosystems Pty Ltd is seeking a full-time Software Engineer for its Melbourne office. This is a permanent position working 38 hours per week. Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are preferred. The Software Engineer will analyse system requirements, design and develop software solutions, test and troubleshoot applications, maintain software and deployment processes, prepare technical documentation, and support ongoing system improvements. The role will also involve working with technologies such as Python, SQL, .NET, Java, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD tools.

Task & responsibilities

• Analyse application and system requirements in consultation with technical and development teams, and evaluate suitable software, cloud and integration solutions to meet business and operational needs. 
• Review existing applications, deployment processes and system environments to identify technical limitations, performance issues, security gaps and areas for improvement, and recommend appropriate software solutions.
• Design, develop and maintain application components, automation scripts and integration solutions using technologies such as Python, SQL, .NET, Java, Azure Functions and Azure Logic Apps, in accordance with technical specifications and development standards.
• Test, debug and troubleshoot software applications, APIs and system integrations using automated, unit, regression and end-to-end testing processes, and resolve identified defects to ensure applications operate as required.
• Develop and maintain software build and deployment solutions using Azure DevOps, Git, YAML, Docker and Kubernetes, including automated CI/CD processes for application testing, release, deployment and database migration.
• Design and maintain containerised application environments on Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), ensuring software applications are deployed in a reliable, scalable and secure manner.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, software deployment procedures, operational runbooks, development standards and implementation guidelines to support application development and ongoing system maintenance.
• Provide technical advice on software design, application architecture, development tools, security solutions and system upgrades, assessing factors such as technical suitability, scalability, security, operational impact and cost before recommending improvements.

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field. Alternatively, at least 5 years of relevant professional experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification.
• At least 2 to 3 years of relevant industry experience and/or on-the-job training may also be required in addition to the formal qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in software analysis, design, development, testing, debugging and implementation.
• Experience in developing and maintaining applications using technologies such as Python, Java, .NET, SQL or similar programming languages.
• Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, system integrations, CI/CD processes and application deployment.
• Practical knowledge of Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Git and DevOps tools will be highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of software development standards, testing methodologies, system security and technical documentation.
• Ability to identify system limitations, troubleshoot technical issues and recommend suitable software improvements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with development and technical teams.
