Task & responsibilities
Duties:
- Provide day-to-day care for children, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Assist children with daily activities such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
- Monitor children’s development, including observing their learning, behavior, and interactions with peers.
- Implement age-appropriate learning activities to stimulate cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
- Create a safe environment for children to play, explore, and learn, ensuring the safety standards are consistently met.
- Maintain records of children's progress, including reports on behavior, development, and milestones.
- Encourage positive social interactions among children to promote teamwork, cooperation, and sharing.
- Develop individual care plans based on children’s needs, ensuring personalized attention and support.
- Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Support children with special needs by providing tailored care or support as required.
- Assist with basic educational tasks, such as teaching numbers, letters, colours, and shapes.
- Provide emotional support to children who may be experiencing separation anxiety or other emotional challenges.
- Work with other childcare professionals, including teachers, psychologists, and social workers, to address the needs of children.
- Provide guidance and discipline using positive reinforcement techniques to manage behaviour.
- Assist in preparing and serving meals, ensuring they meet dietary needs.
- Keep the child care facility clean and organised, ensuring toys, equipment, and supplies are in good condition.
- Participate in meetings with parents, teachers, and other caregivers to discuss children’s progress and needs..
- Maintain child care certifications and attend professional development sessions to stay updated on best practices.
- Encourage physical activity to support children's physical health and fitness.
- Assist with the transition to school or other care arrangements as children approach the appropriate age.
Qualification & experience
- AQF Certificate III and Higher must be relevant.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the related field.
- Ability to lead and work within a team.
- Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Time management to prioritize tasks
- Manage children's needs and behaviors calmly and effectively.
