About Company
IBA Retail Asset Management Pty Ltd (IRAM) is the legally nominated management company of the retail assets owned by Tennant Foodbarn Partnership.
IRAM Pty Ltd, a 100% owned subsidiary of Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), was established in 2015 to provide professional retail management services for Indigenous-owned retail assets across Australia. At IRAM, we believe that location should never limit quality or opportunity. Through strategic planning, innovative solutions, and a community-first approach, we are transforming retail services in regional and remote Australia—delivering both meaningful community outcomes and sustainable economic growth.
Your application will be processed by IRAM on behalf of Tennant Food Barn Partnership.
Tennant Foodbarn Partnership was formed in 2008 between two partners; Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation(JCAC) and; Indigenous Business Australia (IBA).
The partners hold a 50/50 ownership of two retail businesses in Tennant Creek Northern Territory; the IGA Supermarket, and the BP Complex Roadhouse.
Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation (JCAC)
As one of the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations in Australia, with a history stretching back more then 30 years, JCAC has a long and proud record of community service delivery in Tennant Creek and the broader Barkly region.
The corporation grew out of the Warumungu Papula organisation, formed in 1974. Its primary purpose then, as it remains today, was to alleviate poverty and improve the wellbeing of the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and surrounding homeland communities.
Indigenous Business Australia (IBA)
IBA was established in 1990 by the Australian Government to improve economic development opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia. IBA is an integral partner within the Government’s Indigenous Economic Development Strategy, which seeks to close the gap between Indigenous Australians and other Australians’ standard of living.
IBA's objective is to provide quality leadership in facilitating and enabling Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement in the wider economy.
Tennant Creek IGA
The Tennant Creek IGA Supermarket was purchased in 2008 in partnership between IBA & JCAC.
The store provides a sustainable income stream and employment opportunities for local people. It was rebranded to IGA (previously Food Barn) in 2016, delivering significant cost savings and improved products and services to the local community. A brand-new store was built from the foundation up and was completed in March 2022. IGA Tennant Creek is now a modern, full range supermarket with an on site deli, butcher and bakery.
BP Complex Tennant Creek
In 2019, IBA invested in the Tennant Creek BP Service Station; alongside Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation.
The BP Service Station is open 24 Hours, 7 days a week, providing fuel, takeaway food and essential groceries - including fresh produce like bread, eggs, milk, meats and renowned barista made coffee.
Upgrades completed in 2025 saw the refresh of the site interior. Visitors can now enjoy some of the best restrooms along the Stuart Highway.
