Deisel Motor Mechanic

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Inspecting, diagnosing, and troubleshooting faults in diesel engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, braking systems, and other heavy vehicle components.
• Dismantling, repairing, and reassembling defective mechanical parts, ensuring repairs comply with manufacturer specifications.
• Carrying out scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, and adjustments to ensure vehicles operate efficiently and comply with safety and environmental standards.
• Testing and fine-tuning engines, mechanical parts, and systems (including computer-assisted diagnostic equipment) after servicing or repair.
• Reassembling and calibrating diesel engines and associated parts to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintaining accurate service records and referring to technical manuals where required.
• Assisting with inspections to ensure roadworthiness compliance and reporting any further maintenance required.

Skills & Qualifications

• Certificate III  or Certificate IV Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, mechanical components, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.
