About the company 

Jesse’s Bakery is a well-established café and bakery located in the heart of Rose Bay, offering artisan breakfast and lunch dishes, freshly baked pastries, sourdough breads, cakes, and specialty coffee made with high-quality local ingredients. Known for its kosher-certified breads and baked goods, the business expanded in early 2026 with “Meat at Jesse’s,” a burger and sandwich shop operating serving premium meats, made-to-order burgers, juicy chicken, fresh salads, and sides in a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.

About the role 

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. 

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing, cooking, seasoning, and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with the menu and company standards
  • Examining food ingredients and supplies to ensure freshness and quality
  • Operating and regulating commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking appliances safely and efficiently
  • Maintaining consistency in food quality, taste, and portion control during service hours
  • Portioning food, plating meals, and adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes where required
  • Storing food in appropriate temperature-controlled facilities and following food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Assisting with menu planning and estimating food and stock requirements
  • Monitoring stock levels and notifying management when orders are required
  • Preparing meals to accommodate customer dietary requirements and special requests, including kosher food preparation standards
  •  Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with workplace health and safety standards
  • Training and supervising junior kitchen staff and apprentices where required
  • Working collaboratively with the head chef and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and excellent customer service

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Cook in a busy café or restaurant environment
  • Relevant culinary qualification (Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) preferred
  • Strong passion for cooking with a willingness to learn, develop new skills, and grow within a professional kitchen
  • Good understanding of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage changing priorities and support various kitchen duties as required
  • Positive attitude with a strong commitment to teamwork and contributing to a supportive kitchen culture.
