A well established Indian restaurant in Albury NSW is looking for a cook. The restaurant is trading 7 days a week and is seeking a full time Cook with the right attitude and passion for food. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of relevant experience and a strong interest in preparing authentic Indian cuisine.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a wide variety of traditional and modern Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, breads, rice dishes and snacks
• Examine ingredients to ensure freshness, quality and authenticity of flavours
• Operate and regulate cooking equipment such as tandoor ovens, grills, fryers and stoves
• Season dishes with appropriate spices and herbs during cooking to maintain authentic Indian taste profiles
• Portion and plate food attractively, ensuring gravies, sauces, chutneys and garnishes are added appropriately
• Store spices, pastes, and cooked/pre-cooked food safely in temperature-controlled facilities
• Prepare meals according to customer requests/dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other dietary requirements
• Assist Chef and Owner in menu planning and estimating food and spice requirements to maintain stock levels

• Train and guide junior kitchen staff such as kitchen hand and dishwasher

Qualification & experience

Requirements:

• 1–3 years of relevant cooking experience (experience with Indian cuisine highly regarded)
• Relevant education required
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
