Construction Estimator

Position Summary

As a Construction Estimator, you will prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets, lead tender proposals, perform quantity take‑offs, assess risks, and collaborate across design, project and procurement teams to support successful project delivery.

Task & responsibilities

• Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scope of works
• Perform quantity take‑offs for materials, labour, plant and equipment
• Prepare hard‑dollar and elemental cost estimates and full tender submissions
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, design team and internal stakeholders
• Conduct site visits to assess site constraints and highlight risk items
• Present value‑engineering options and cost saving solutions
• Maintain rate databases and updating benchmark cost information
• Manage handover to project delivery teams and assist with post‑tender support
• Ensure compliance with WHS, contract conditions, and company policy

Qualification & experience

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Project Management or equivalent (Certificate IV accepted for intermediate roles) 
• Minimum 3+ years’ estimating experience in commercial or fit‑out construction 
• Excellent understanding of NSW tendering practices and contract standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Project; experience with estimating software (e.g. Cubit, Buildsoft, ProEst, EstimateOne) is highly regarded 
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
• Excellent attention to detail, initiative and ability to multitask.
