As our Conference & Events Manager, you'll be the driving force behind the successful conversion and planning of every event that walks through our doors. From intimate boardroom meetings to large-scale conferences and incentive programs, you'll own the end-to-end experience '” ensuring every detail is flawless and every client leaves wanting to come back.
What You'll Be Doing
- Hit (and beat) banquet revenue targets while maximising profitability
- Partner with the Director of Sales & Marketing on short and long-term sales strategy
- Actively grow the sales pipeline and win business from the competition
- Work with Revenue Management on pricing and yield strategies
- Negotiate F&B pricing, function space, and hotel services to convert business
- Contribute to the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans
- Direct day-to-day conference and convention activities from inquiry to execution
- Consult with meeting planners on room configuration, flow, menus, AV, décor, transport, and VIP services
- Conduct site inspections and entertain clients to bring our spaces to life
- Run pre and post-event meetings to continuously elevate the guest experience
- Meet daily with planners to review consumption, billing, and any contract exceptions
- Action client satisfaction feedback to keep improving
- Coach, train, and develop your direct report and the wider events team
- Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, service behaviours, and sales techniques
- Promote teamwork through strong cross-departmental communication
- Plan staffing levels based on demand
- Champion IHG's Corporate Responsibility practices and sustainability initiatives
- Advise clients on greener meeting options that reduce waste and energy use
- Uphold WH&S, Trade Practices, Data Privacy, and Gifts & Bribery policies
- Represent the hotel and brand in the local community and with media when needed
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 3 years of high-quality events experience with a proven track record of driving repeat business
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Hotel Administration, Event Management, or related field
- Strong knowledge of sales principles, with excellent client management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership capability and experience managing teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A flexible, adaptive approach '” events rarely go exactly to plan, and you thrive in that
- Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at every level
- Experience with Opera (PMS) and event planning software like Delphi is highly advantageous
