About the Role:
Brisbane Boys’ College and College Gymnastics are committed to being a School of Balance, where athlete wellbeing and long-term development—both physical and mental—are the highest priorities.
This role is responsible for overseeing and developing the competitive gymnastics program with a focus on long-term athlete progression and future international competition. The objective is to build a program capable of achieving success on the international stage.
The position also involves coaching gymnastics teams and contributing to other programs as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Write the BBC lesson plans and strength plans for the appointed group/groups (Particularly competitive programs) and notify the Director of Gymnastics of any changes.
Assist in the planning, organisation and delivery of the skills programs among Gymnasts.
Run the competitive programs for College Gymnastics/Brisbane Boys College Gymnastics.
Ensure that the Foundation cup team is trained and ready for the season.
Maintain, modify and implement the gymnastics curriculum for the GPS & competitive program with the Director of Gymnastics. Create and implement an annual plan and Olympic cycle planning.
Ensure that the gymnasium and equipment are clean and tidy at the beginning and conclusion of each training day.
Develop programs appropriate to the gymnast’s ability and potential.
Ensure that rolls are accurate and marked at all times.
Ensure that data pertaining to the athletes in your program is maintained and up to date.
Attend competitions and coach all competitive gymnasts.
Run the competitive gymnastics program in conjunction with the Foundational gymnastics programs.
Coordinate and submit complete competition entries for GQ and GA and International events as required.
Any other task as appointed by the Director of Gymnastics and/or Gymnastics Team Leader.
Facility:
Deploy equipment for practice needs.
Organise space for practice needs.
Organise space for competitions.
Management:
Monitor gymnast’s physical fitness.
Promote gymnasts and support personnel welfare.
Cooperate with the Director of Gymnastics/Sport Directors and the GPS Sport Administrators.
Execute the College's Code of Behaviour.
Write reports for all competitions for publishing.
Write lesson plans for competitive programs (follow timetables for equipment use)
Write term and annual reports for each gymnast in the competitive program – specifically noting their performance, skill acquisition and progress in the program.
Promotion:
Promote BBC gymnastics among the participants and throughout the community.
Evaluation:
Seek feedback re the BBC gymnastics program.
Write term and annual reports on each gymnast in competitive program, include their progress in the program and where they are going.

Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience as a coach.
Strong knowledge of current coaching techniques/strategies.
Working knowledge of MS Office.
Know the ALP & FIG code of points and how to construct routines for both levels and international competition that maximise scores for the individual, given their individual abilities.
Hold a current driver’s license, car and bus, or can obtain a bus license.
Hold a FIG 3 High Performance Coach MAG Qualification
Preferred additional: FIG 3 High Performance Coach WAG Qualification
Hold an Advanced Silver MAG Qualification
Preferred additional: Advanced Silver WAG Qualification
Hold an MAG Judging Qualification preferred
Hold current 1st Aid
Performance KPIs
Attendance ratio at GPS rounds for the age group.
Performance of individuals and team(s).
Quality of match reports and reviews.
Produce top 3 State results in levels program both Open and Unders. MAG Gymnastics Levels 3 to Senior International.
Develop school athletes for a winning Foundation Cup Team.
Develop senior athletes for international competition.
