  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience.

  • Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.

  • Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the specialty area of communicable diseases.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care and advice that is culturally responsive to key stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with a range of key stakeholders and a multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness and flexibility to service provision to meet community needs.

  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.

  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care focused on communicable diseases.

  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.

  • Proven ability to consult, review, and develop, both new and existing policies and procedures within the relevant specialty of communicable diseases.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and undertake communicable disease surveillance, investigations and response.
