Task & responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all civil and environmental remediation works, including earthworks and hazardous soil management.
• Coordinate sub-contractors, ensuring their work meets project goals, quality standards, and strict safety requirements.
• Assess structural risks before asbestos removal or demolition to ensure building stability.
• Design safe demolition and remediation methods to minimise asbestos and contaminant disturbance.
• Oversee excavation, transport, and disposal of hazardous soils in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Undertake risk assessments when soil removal may affect surrounding structures such as buildings, railways ect.
• Monitor site progress, quality, and safety, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for clients, councils, and regulators.

Qualification & experience

• Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor, ideally in environmental remediation or hazardous materials at sensitive site projects.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage crews and sub-contractors effectively.
• Experience in civil processes handling hazardous soils including lead, heavy metals and asbestos-safe work practices.
• Solid understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and relevant certifications (White Card, hazardous materials handling, environmental remediation).
• Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and on-site decision-making skills.
