Job Title: Civil Engineering Technician 

Location: Level 1, 11 Lonsdale Street, Braddon, ACT 2612 

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 plus superannuation depending on experience

Task & responsibilities

• Assist Civil and Façade Engineers in the planning, coordination, and delivery of façade and structural engineering projects for commercial and residential developments. 
• Prepare, interpret, and review technical drawings, shop drawings, plans, sketches, and engineering documentation using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for façade systems, steel structures, cladding systems, and other construction components in accordance with project specifications and Australian Standards. 
• Assist in estimating material quantities, project costs, and resource requirements by analysing engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documentation. 
• Conduct technical reviews of engineering drawings and project documentation to identify discrepancies, design conflicts, and compliance issues, ensuring works are carried out in accordance with specifications, regulations, and contractual requirements. 
• Support engineers with site inspections, façade assessments, construction monitoring, and site coordination activities to verify installation accuracy, structural performance, and compliance with engineering and safety standards. 
• Collect, organise, and analyse engineering and construction data, including measurements, site information, and technical documentation, to support engineering calculations, project reporting, and construction activities. 
• Maintain organised project records, including technical drawings, revisions, engineering reports, inspection records, and construction documentation to support project delivery and regulatory compliance.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of a Diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent qualification relevant to civil and structural engineering support services.
• Minimum of one year of demonstrated experience as a Civil Engineering Technician or in a similar technical support role within the civil, structural, or façade engineering industry (preferable)
• Proficiency in engineering and drafting software including AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, and knowledge of additional engineering software such as Ftool and TQS.
• Sound understanding of construction methodologies, engineering documentation, façade systems, structural components, and relevant Australian Standards.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams while managing competing project priorities and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with engineers, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
