The Role – 12 Month Maternity Leave Cover
  
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Kitchenhand who is passionate about early childhood education to join our team on a 12-month maternity leave contract. You will receive on-the-job training within our beautiful Montessori learning environments while working alongside approachable and supportive Centre Managers and a collaborative team.
Our campuses offer excellent development and training opportunities, a welcoming team culture, and modern facilities both inside and out. The successful applicant will be passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing through nutrition, willing to learn, and enjoy working as part of a team.
Key Competencies

• Current Working with Children Check
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
• Willingness to work towards a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
• Availability to work shifts between 7:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively within a team environment
• Strong understanding of the importance of family communication
• Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and National Quality Standard (NQS)
• Understanding of the Montessori Philosophy
• Commitment to supporting the holistic development of children

Responsibilities

• Preparing morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and late afternoon snacks
• Ensuring safe food handling practices for children with allergies and anaphylaxis
• Meal plating, service, and delivery to classrooms
• Kitchen cleaning and dishwashing
• Cleaning of office spaces, staffroom, foyer, and other areas when required
• Preparation and handling of varied meats
• Following food safety and hygiene procedures
• Positively promoting and representing the centre to families and the community
• Advocating the Montessori Method to parents and prospective families
• Respecting and supporting colleagues through positive and ethical communication practices based on mutual respect, equity, and fairness
• Attending meetings as requested
• Becoming familiar with Montessori Academy Policies and Procedures
