The role involves providing direct care, supporting children’s learning and development, and working collaboratively with educators, families and the wider centre team to create a safe, stimulating and supportive environment for all children.
The Child Care Worker plays a key role in supporting the education, care, safety and wellbeing of children aged 0–6 years at Clovelly Child Care Centre Inc.This position contributes to the delivery of a high-quality, play-based early learning program aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the Centre’s community-focused, inclusive and nurturing philosophy.
Benefits
The remuneration for this position is AUD 75,000.00 to AUD 85,000.00 per annum + superannuation.
Task & responsibilities
- Provide attentive, nurturing and developmentally appropriate care to children in accordance with individual needs, routines and interests.
- Support the planning and implementation of play-based learning experiences aligned with the EYLF, under the guidance of the Educational Leader or Room Leader.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, hygienic and stimulating learning environment that promotes children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and wellbeing, both indoors and outdoors.
- Observe children’s behaviour, development and learning progress, and contribute to documentation and reflections to support ongoing programming.
- Support children’s emotional regulation and behaviour using positive, age-appropriate guidance strategies in line with centre policies.
- Assist with daily routines, including meals, rest periods, toileting and transitions, ensuring children feel secure and supported.
- Build respectful and collaborative relationships with children, families and colleagues, contributing to a welcoming and community-oriented centre culture.
- Follow all centre policies, procedures and risk management practices to ensure compliance with the National Quality Standards (NQS), relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions and professional development activities to continuously improve skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting consistency of practice and continuity of care across the centre.
Qualification & experience
The successful candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum of 12 months relevant experience working with children aged 0–6 years in a regulated early childhood education and care setting.
- Sound knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Framework (NQF).
- Current Working With Children Check (NSW).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team in a not-for-profit, community-based childcare environment.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to supporting children’s learning, wellbeing and development.
