We are seeking a qualified and motivated Chemical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering design, validation, and development of Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE) solutions, ensuring process integrity, compliance with standards, and delivering high-quality technical outcomes.

Task & responsibilities

Apply thermodynamics, heat/mass transfer for PHE design and hydraulic validation.

Verify process chemistry and physical property inputs for accuracy and consistency.

Develop fit-for-purpose solutions with documented engineering calculations.

Assess material compatibility and prepare risk registers.

Ensure compliance with applicable standards and coordinate approvals.

Prepare technical proposals, datasheets, and compliance statements.

Provide operational support, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Maintain engineering documentation under ISO 9001 QMS.

Coordinate with manufacturing for technical handover and commissioning.

Ensure WHS, environmental, and safety compliance.

Engage with stakeholders to validate requirements and provide engineering advice.

Support tenders/quotes with technical inputs and attend client meetings.

Keep up to date with standards, materials, and PHE technologies.

Qualification & experience

* Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related Process/Materials Engineering).

* Strong foundation in heat & mass transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials/corrosion selection applied to plate heat exchanger (PHE) design and validation.

* Working knowledge of materials selection and chemical-compatibility for process media and operating conditions.

* Experience preparing technical and tender documentation to high industry and company standards.

* Familiarity with AS/NZS 1200, AS 1210, AHRI, WaterMark, and PED requirements.

* Effective teamwork with manufacturing and QA to translate designs into production and commissioning.

* Strong planning/coordination and attention to detail in documentation/compliance; proficient with Microsoft Office and engineering spreadsheets.

* Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel for site technical meetings/commissioning when required.

* Minimum 2–3 years’ engineering experience (process/chemical or similar).

Preferred:  Experience in the PHE area (selection/sizing, materials/gaskets, service/commissioning)
