Western Hotel Ballarat is seeking qualified and experienced Cooks / Chefs to join our busy kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality pub-style meals, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting efficient kitchen operations.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present menu items in line with established recipes and presentation standards 
• Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner during busy service periods 
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in accordance with relevant legislation 
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation 
• Assist in menu planning and development where required 
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of food 
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service operations 
• Comply with workplace health and safety policies and procedures

Qualification & experience

• At least one (1) year of full-time relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen environment 
• Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) 
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen 
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards 
• Excellent organisational and time management skills 
• Ability to work a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays 
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
